The Prairie Queen Quilt
Part 1
This is National Quilting Day….
…And so, in honor of this day…
I just bought fabric for a new quilt for a special little girl. The pattern is called ‘Prairie Queen’, a variation on the simple 9 patch.
She told me that her favorite color was pink, and I chose these pinks and a brown sprigged with pink blossoms for the fabric. I have found that choosing colors of fabric to be one of the hardest parts of quilting.
I am excited to be working on a quilt again-it has been a long time for any quilting for me, due to our move, and all the work, time and chores that accompanies moving. But I finally have an area set up for my sewing in our new house. ( Well, mostly set up…there is still more that I would like to do! Will be posting photos of my sewing room soon.)
I will post pictures of the advancing stages of this quilt as they get done…I am very excited to be back to quilt making again!
Happy Quilting!
And, in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day and my Irish heritage….(My maternal grandmother, Ellen Fullerton, along with her sister, Catherine, immigrated from County Donegal, Ireland when she was 18 years old.)
A quote attributed to St. Patrick-
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
