Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day

Artist- Lee Lufkin Kaula, 1865-1957

The woman who makes a sweet, beautiful home,

filling it with love and prayer and purity,

is doing something better than anything else

her hands could find to do beneath the skies.

A true mother is one of the holiest secrets

of home happiness.

God sends many beautiful things to this world,

many noble gifts;

but no blessing is richer than that

which He bestows

in a mother who has learned

love’s lessons well,

and has realized something of the meaning

of her sacred calling.

J.R. Miller

Wishing a blessed day to all mothers.

Sunday Song-Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord

Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord

Teach me thy way, O Lord; Teach me Thy way!

Thy guiding grace afford; Teach me Thy way!

Help me to walk aright-More by faith, less by sight.

Lead me with heav’nly light; Teach me Thy way!

When I am sad at heart, Teach me Thy way!

When earthly joys depart, Teach me Thy way!

In hours of loneliness, In times of dire distress,

In failure or success, Teach me Thy way!

When doubts and fears arise, Teach me Thy way!

When storm o’er-spread the skies, Teach me Thy way!

Shine thro’ the cloud and rain, Thro’ sorrow, toil and pain.

Make Thou my pathway plain; Teach me Thy way!

Long as my life shall last, Teach me Thy way!

Wher-e’er my lot be cast, Teach me Thy way!

Until the race is run, Until the journeys’ done,

Until the crown is won, Teach me Thy way!

Words and Music by B. Mansell Ramsey

Psalm 27:11

Teach me your way, O Lord;

lead me in a straight path.

The Lord desires to teach us His ways-The Holy Bible and prayer are the means by which He teaches us.  May we avail ourselves of these means of learning His way.  Only by following God’s way, will we reach our desired destination.

This Sunday and Good-By Winter!

Thoughts for this Sunday

Three Things

There are three things that earthly riches can never do-

They can never satisfy divine justice-

They can never pacify divine wrath-

Nor can they ever quiet a guilty conscience.

Until these things are done-

Man is undone.

Thomas Brooks

Good-By Winter!

I found this lovely blog

and she has some cute poems there-

maybe she wrote them?

Here is one-

They’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone

Going out the door

Is old man winter,

Muttering to himself

And feeling quite bitter;

“For all my hard work,

The quality weather I bring-

All I hear about me

Is joy to welcome Spring!

It makes me want to storm,

It makes me want to rain,

But after a long, hot summer,

See if they don’t want me again!”

Blessings on this Lord’s Day!

For the Children-Born and Unborn

We are a pro-life family-

We are a pro-life church-

We love children, both born and unborn.

Psalm 139:13

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

We believe that life begins at conception,

and that each life is a special and unique

creation of God Himself.

We are created in His image.

With that belief in our life, we do whatever we can to promote and provide for

children and to protect the unborn.

One of the things that we do as a united church, is attend

the annual March for Life, held every year in January,

on the anniversary of the Roe vs Wade

Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the US.

A bus is chartered to Washington, DC, and as many as are willing and able,

fill the bus to capacity to march in protest.

We are protesting this decision, and want it overturned.

Many of the people in our church take the day off work to attend the March.

The Sunday after the March for Life, all of those from our church

that attended the march, (26 total)  sang a special song for the rest of church.

The children are always included!

Children are the future of the church of Christ, and the future of our country.

Another thing that we do to support life,

is to donate to the local Life Choices Center.

Life Choices is dedicated to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs

of young men, women and families that are facing unplanned pregnancies.

One of the ways of support is through the baby bottle drive.

Anyone who is interested, takes a baby bottle home, fills it up with $$, and returns it to church.

The bottles are then taken by a volunteer to the Life Choices Center.

The mission of Life Choices is to empower choices for life, sexual integrity and healthy families.

Free medical services are available, including

pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STD testing, abortion education, community referrals, prenatal and pregnancy education,

material resources, post abortion support, sexual health, relationship education, and male/fatherhood consultations.

They have a 24 hour help-line,

While the baby bottles were waiting to be filled up,

one of the ladies in our church, Martha Taylor, was very busy

making beautiful crib afghans to donate.

(Martha, on the right.)

They were so beautiful, it makes me wish I had a baby!

One of the points of the pro-choice group is that the pro-lifers are only interested in unborn children-

what is done to help unwanted children?

Their point is not true-there are many willing to help children.

There are 4 families in our church that are actively involved in foster care of unwanted and at risk children,

one of them eventually adopting 4 special needs children.

This past Sunday, in looking over my little Sunday School class of 6 Jr. kids,

I realized that ALL of them were adopted.

Children, wanted or not, are a great ministry work.

Although the stars do not speak,

even in being silent they cry out.

John Calvin

Every aborted child, though they cannot speak and are silent,

would cry out, “Let me live!”

Deuteronomy 31:8

The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you;

He will never leave you or forsake you.
