The Solar Eclipse of 2017

Solar Eclipse

The 2 following photos are ones taken of the solar eclipse by Esther this afternoon.

First one,

and second one.

I thought that she got some good shots of this rare celestial event.

The shape of the clouds in the second photo reminds me of a heart.

This photo was taken from off the computer-

the eclipse and the shape of the cross.

I don’t know if it authentic or not, but it is a neat picture.

And this quote, to satisfy my romantic side.

Yes, much of the western world did stare in awe today.

But I did not.

I did stare in awe at the beautiful sunset tonight.

My ever faithful sunset watcher,

He always joins me as I watch the sunset.

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation-

whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life-

of whom shall I be afraid?

A Sunday Poem-Heart of Love

Heart of Love

Oh heart of Love!

I dimly comprehend

The magnitude-

The breadth, length, depth, and height,

Of love like Thine-

That stoops to me,

And asks of me my love!

My heart is cold-

Oh, teach me how to love

With love like Thine.

Hilda Rovik Lindal

Ephesians 5:2

Live a life of love,

just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us

as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Esther’s Roses

Esther’s Beautiful Roses

A couple of years ago, for Mother’s Day, I gave each of my daughters-in-law a miniature rose bush.  Esther has done such a wonderful job of caring for her rose.  It is growing, surviving the winters, and thriving…producing beautiful blooms.

She planted her rose right outside the back porch, by a porch post.

Because of the good care she gives it, it has produced flush after flush of beautiful flowers over the summer months.

You can see what she feeds the rose bush-bananas and peel, and egg shells.

The rose bush is very happy to share in her breakfast and reward her with such lovely flowers!

Philippians 2:13

God is working in you,

giving you the desire to obey Him

and the power to do what pleases Him.

A Summer Of Change

I have been absent from this blog for a long time-from the middle of May to be exact.

This has been the summer of change for our family.  Many changes have taken place, most of them major changes.  I will not list the changes for most of the other members in my family-that is their story, but I will relate the changes that have taken place, and will continue to take place, for us.

Our son, Gabriel and his family, (who has pastored in Conneaut, OH for the past 6 years) was voted in as the assistant/youth pastor of our church-Cottage Hill,

and also as the administrator of the school-New Bethlehem Wesleyan Methodist School.

The big change-he and his family moved into the parsonage we have lived in for the last 26 years…

and we moved into a temporary house till we find a new place to live.

The view from my kitchen windows.

We are currently living in the parsonage of the Dutch Hill church.

The church has been closed, we bought the church and parsonage,

and here we are.  Home for now.

The location is lovely, and the house is very pleasant.

Wonderful daughters -in-law came to help me in the kitchen, cleaning and putting away.

The changes are not done-

we will be packing up again soon, and moving again.

This whole affair has been very unsettling to me with

not knowing where I will eventually land to live.

I feel like I have wasted a whole summer, wondering and waiting,

and will be so glad to finally settle in our own home.

This is too much for this old lady!

Words I have been needing this summer…

Joshua 1:9

“Be strong and courageous.

The LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
